By creating a natural perfume, we have decided to create a certain standard that will help us to define what natural perfumes mean, and which products can we truly call perfumes. To do this, we “went back” to the times when perfumery was a craft, and perfumes were made in small factories in France and Germany, from plants grown on local farms. Raw materials, such as essential oils or absolutes, were obtained by the same families, right after the harvest. To go back to the times when the harvest lasted 30-35 days (Rose), and the harvest from a given year gave a slightly different raw material than in previous years, thus emphasizing the transience of nature.
In the times to which we refer, “delicacy” of the fragrance was something ‘normal’, its short duration was not its disadvantage, but a natural feature. Perfumers created perfumes that not only matched the trends of the time, but also helped to keep the person wearing them healthy. Already at this stage of the development of perfumery, the fragrances has come a long way in the history of mankind.
The first fragrances obtained from resins were reserved for sacrifice rituals and only priests had the right to prepare and burn them (at that time perfumes were powdered resins that had to be burned, to bring out the Latin fragrance per fumum – by smoke). Perfumes recipes also appears in the Bible. In the Acient Egypt, the invention of alembic enabled the acquisition of essential oils. In later medieval times, perfumes became a weapon against pestilence, the market for leather gloves soaked in lavender and rosemary oils, protecting against viruses and bacteria. This is when the water of the Queen of Hungary is created – first the medicine and elixir of “youth”, then the first perfume.
In the years 1880-1890, it was possible to create the first synthetic molecules – vanillin and coumarin. The perfumers were delighted because the discovery helped to reduce costs. Only a hundred years later it will become apparent that coumarin is carcinogenic and vanillin is just a substitute for natural vanilla. Unfortunately, the perfumery further developed synthetic ingredients for their perfumes, also creating synthetic substances that prolong the duration of the fragrance and its projection. The length of the fragrance begins to be synonymous with its quality (!), And manufacturers are able to reduce the amount of natural substances to a minimum. In many fragrances, natural substances never even appear. Consumers buy alcohol with synthetic molecules conquered with fragrance enhancers and buzzing marketing.
When we started to think about perfumes, we have immediately decided that our fragrances must be created according to the old good standards of perfumery. That is why we only use natural essential oils, absolutes and tinctures (which we make ourselves) in the highest concentration extrait de parfum. Therefore our perfumes are 100% natural, without any additives, projectors, fragrance enhancers. We want our fragrances to be remembered for a long time, for our customers be able to come back to them and to keep the standard to which others are compared.
Our perfumes will create an individual scent combination once they touch your skin, merging with our natural scent. They are discreet, do not disturb it, do not mask it. Sometimes to feel them you have to lean, move your nose to your neck or wrist, other times, scattered by the wind they are obvious. Made in small batches they are seasonal which means that they vary, depending on the harvest and work of the last small manufactures distilling oils and acquiring absolutes. Our natural perfumes are unisex and devoid of marketing affiliation with sex, which is the most democratic form of fragrance.
